Jewelry Care:
"Last on, First off!" Following this general rule will help keep your jewelry from unnecessary contact with make-up, perfume, lotions, hair products, soaps and household cleaners. The chemicals in these products can permanently damage soft stones (such as natural pearls, opals and turquoise) and metals.
Can I wear my jewelry in the shower/bath? I recommend taking off your jewelry before bathing. The chemicals in shampoo, conditioner, body wash and soaps can cause permanent damage to your jewelry.
How should I clean my jewelry? For fingerprints or light tarnish, gently rub the piece with a soft cloth.
What is tarnish and how can I prevent it? Tarnish is simply a chemical reaction between the metal and the air. The good news is tarnish only occurs on the surface of the metal and can be easily removed with a polishing cloth or other jewelry cleaner made specifically for silver. To help prevent tarnish, follow the "Last on, First off" rule and store your jewelry in an air tight container when it's not being worn.
How should I store my jewelry when I'm not wearing it? Every Elements by Dawn piece of jewelry is shipped inside a zip-top bag with a tiny strip of anti-tarnishing paper. The anti-tarnishing paper absorbs sulfides and other pollutants from the air which prevents tarnish from forming. I suggest storing your jewelry inside the zip-top bag provided. In addition to preventing tarnish, the bag also protects the jewelry from coming in contact with other hard objects which may scratch your jewelry.
