Artist’s Statement:
I love working with my hands - feeling the tactile differences in the metals, gemstones, beads, and the many other elements I use. I find great pleasure in forging the metals and witnessing the changes they undergo as they become something unique, something beautiful. Bringing a simple idea and raw materials together to form into a finished piece of jewelry gives me a great sense of accomplishment.
Materials are selected based on practicality, functionality, beauty, wearability, and historic meaning or folklore. Themes are based on artistic movements such as art deco, minimalism, neo-expressionism or political and social movements. Other themes are inspired by the natural world or through life’s milestones.
I began crafting jewelry in 2006. My current works incorporate clean, classic, delicate textures coupled with crystals and gemstones adding color and undeniable beauty and sparkle. As I continue to explore my medium, I foresee the use of unexpected jewelry-making materials – paper, found objects, fiber, and repurposed/recycled objects.
